TEACH US TO OUTGROW OUR MADNESS sets out to explore the intense relationships that exist between women living closely together - be it sisters, nuns, witches, best friends, members of a sect, or polygamist wives. The rivalry, the secrecy, the gossip, the cruelty but also the kindness, the bonds, and the unconditional love. This piece combines dance, live music and storytelling into a horrifying yet liberating experience.
The dancer and choreographer Erna Omarsdottir is one of Iceland’s most interesting and successful artists and for a number of years she has been well established on the international scene. Her collaborators include Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Les Ballets C de la B and Jan Fabre, and four times in a row she has been recognised as an outstanding performer by the magazine Tanz. In 2008 she had a short residency at the K3 Centre for Choreography in Kampnagel.
