Artistic-Research

The Scandinavian countries take on a pioneering role in artistic research in Europe. The base for the artistic research are aesthetic and artistic experiences. With their help, methods and formats are being developed in which new knowledge and experiences in the field of artistic knowledge can be produced, conveyed and discussed. NORDWIND now contributes in communicating the Nordic countries' achievements in artistic research to the German scene.

At this year‘s NORDWIND Festival Julian Klein, Director of the Institute for  Artistic  Research (http://www.artistic-research.de) who, along with the group a rose is in their production idem (AT), will deal with complex issues in Identification and Social Cognition. Who are we? Who are the others? The black hole of identity has many orbits. In the context of theatre, science and social discourse there is barely a subject that cannot be connected in some way to this central question about the individual and collective self. Based on socio-psychological experiments and studies on the formation of a European identity, a series of tests is to be developed, to artistically reflect, and performatively make tangible to theatre-goers the strategies and mechanisms which underlie the psychology and culture of the constitution of European identity
