Born in 1978 in Rovaniemi, Finland. Eemil Karila lives and works in Berlin. He graduated from the Academy of Arts in Estonia 2002 and studied in Venezuela during the year 2000. After graduating from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts´ MFA program in 2008 he moved to Berlin.

" I work in various media in my art and the subject usually defines the technique of the work. I am interested in society, how it is constructed and how this reflects upon us, as individuals; how citizens can be economical products and what are the powers, that tell us what to do and expect. Through my works I want to provide the possibility for people to discover something about their daily lives that they usually don’t have the possibility or time to notice. Furthermore, I hope that we all would understand our position in our mutual hamster’s wheel."
