Christoph Twickel

Christoph Twickel, journalist and activist, played in the Hamburg art punk trio Zimbo in the 1990s, where he was responsible for drums and vocals. In addition, he wrote for various newspapers and magazines such as Spex or taz and presented the program “Tropeninstitut” on ByteFM. In addition to his international focus on Latin America (including writing a biography of the Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez), Christoph Twickel has also written various books on the cultural scene in his hometown of Hamburg, in which he critically examines the gentrification of the Gängeviertel, among others. In this context he was also one of the co-initiators of the “Not In Our Name, Hamburg” project. Twickel is a member of the Agitprop collective Schwabinggrad Ballett, in which Ted Gaier, Bernadette La Hengst and Knarf Rellöm have also participated.
