Hür was born in 1968 in Eastern Anatolia and has live in Berlin since 1980. After studying German, Sociology and Theatre and Film Studies at the Freie Universität Berlin, he initially worked as an interpreter. Since 2000, he has been a freelance journalist and primarily works as a radio and TV reporter for the public broadcasting services, including the programmes Kontraste (ARD), Abendschau (rbb), Funkhaus Europa (WDR, RB), Stilbruch (rbb), Inforadio (rbb), Kulturradio (rbb) and Deutschlandfunk (DLF). The main focus of his work is immigration politics.
