Working with the West African group Kabu Kabu since 2006, the world famous Finnish musician Jimi Tenor has developed a musical mixture somewhere between Afrobeat and jazz. Their album, Mystery of Aether, released in 2012, is the fifth album the musicians have recorded together. Jimi Tenor and Kabu Kabu will now present their music to the Berlin audience for the first time at NORDWIND: full of energy and humour, and extremely danceable.

On the 09.11.17, Athi-Patra Ruga will improvise with Jimi Tenor and Kabu Kabu in a jamming session.

Jimi Tenor was born in 1965 and is a world famous Finnish musician. Tenor has released five albums with the West African group Kabu Kabu since 2006. Including The Mystery Of Aether (2012) and 4th Dimension (2008). In 2014 he was awarded the John Peel Play More Jazz Award. Kabu Kabu is a West African trio of musicians. KabuKabu’s style of music can be described as Afrobeat, dancehall and soul/funk/jazz mixed with traditional West African elements. The musicians in Kabu Kabu live and work in Berlin. The concert will take place in cooperation with XJAZZ festival. XJAZZ is a cross-genre jazz festival that has taken place in Kreuzberg, Berlin since 2014. Along with jazz, the festival mainly presents electronic and classical music concerts.
