Yulia Peresild
born in Pskov, Soviet Union, dreamed of becoming an actress since childhood. In 2006 she graduated from the acting department of the directing department of the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts. Since 2007, as an invited actress, she has taken part in the plays of the State Theater of Nations. She currently works with the theater „School of Modern Play“ and the theater on Malaya Bronnaya theater company Yevgeny Mironov. The first big work in film is the role of Olya Rodyashina in the drama film The Bride (2006) directed by Elier Ishmuhamedov and Captive (2008 film) directed by Alexei Uchitel. However, a real breakthrough in the film biography of the actress was one of the main roles of Sofia in the drama The Edge (2010 film) directed by Alexei Uchitel, the television series Santa Lucia (2012), and the mystical thriller Sonnentau (2012) brought her popularity among Russian audiences. The actress became well known after playing supporting roles in In the Fog (2012) directed by Sergei Loznitsa. She received several awards, the „President of Russia’s award for young artists“ (2013), „The White Elephant Prize“ for the best actress in a supporting role (2010) and „Best actress award“ at first BRICS Film Festival (2015). STILL/LIFE is simply the story of the rise and fall of man, and the cycle of time within which we are caught. Qudus Onikeku intend to simultaneously make visible the head and the tail of the same coin at the same time, to identify those motives that preoccupies men of power, and slowly transform them into a murderous monster. Above all, he invites his audience to confront their contradictions and oppositions, to reflect on schizophrenia, as a symptomatic feature of the world mankind lives in. In this highly collaborative piece, this
proposition is dealt with great virtuosity and combining dance, acrobatics, music, oral poetry, video and visual art.
ALL THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES is situated between blasphemy and violent disobedience. In a bid to undo the layers of violence and domination by another over another. This piece isn’t a call to action of any sort, it is in fact a call to inaction and to inflect upon the new
being that European migration have created of us all over the last century of colonisation and how those new humans have created orphans who now migrated equally and people the global capitals, with a crude legitimacy for being there.
This open working session is a quest to establish a new tribe, a tribe devoid of stereotypes and preconceived notion.
