Following the performance THE ANSWER IS LAND by Elle Sofe Sara, Nordwind, in cooperation with IMAGINE HAMBURG, is organising a discussion format on perspectives for a sustainable future and creative solutions to the effects of man-made climate change. Ugandan climate activist Vanessa Nakate, Sara Marielle Gaup from the team of Sami-Norwegian artist Elle Sofe Sara and Dr. Stefan Aykut (Mercator Endowed Chair of Sociology Hamburg) will discuss the links between the climate crisis and migration. Afterwards, there will also be space for the audience to ask questions and discuss how climate change and migration can be tackled together
Speakers:
Vanessa Nakate – Climate justice activist, UNICEF Ambassador, founder of Uganda’s climate movement, and initiator of the Vash Green Schools Project for renewable energy.
Sara Marielle Gaup Beaska for Elle Sofe Sara – Choreographer and filmmaker, exploring unspoken rituals and often overlooked aspects of Sámi identity and heritage.
Dr. Stefan Aykut – Expert on international climate policy, with extensive publications on climate controversies and energy futures.
