Save the Date: NORDWIND 2024, December 4–15 at Kampnagel
What does “home” mean in an era shaped by migration and globalization? How does climate change impact on our living environment? How does the sense of belonging shift when nationalist movements get strengthened and right-wing ideologies gain influence? And what new alliances can emerge within the tension of these issues?
“New Allies” – this is the theme of this year’s NORDWIND Festival. Among many others, Elle Sofe Sara, Hanin Georgis, Harald Beharie, Sandra Kolstad, Valgeir Sigurðsson, Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe, Elisabeth Klinck, Afia will present their works, which critically and empoweringly engage with the topics of home, habitat, and identity.
The tandem residency program, which will be originated this year and showcases its works on the platform of the festival , integrates local artists from the Hamburg scene and promotes a strong network and collaboration with the Nordic scene. As part of Microspace, a collaborative project by Yolanda Gutiérrez and Kajan Luc with four Hamburg schools, 100 schoolkids and together with professional dancers, they explore migration movements through microorganisms asking : “How do these organism define its place, movement and space ?”
We look forward to a fruitful exchange and amazing performances that focuse more on our similarities than our differences.
