Charlottenburg

Marina Davydova

#READING

What does home mean when it is lost? And how does one’s own memory change through exile?

In Charlottenburg, Russian theatre maker, critic, and historian Marina Davydova explores the trauma of exile and the illusion of a fixed concept of homeland. The central character encounters the “ghosts” of the past and the future. An intense journey through memory, loss, and the search for identity.

Charlottenburg is the third part of Davydova’s internationally acclaimed theatre trilogy, following Eternal Russia(Berlin, 2017) and Museum of Uncounted Voices (Wiener Festwochen, 2023). Like the previous works, the piece is rooted in the genre of the “performative museum”, a space where history, collective memory, and personal experiences meet.

As part of the NORDWIND Festival, Marina Davydova presents fragments of the text to a German audience for the first time. The premiere of Charlottenburg is scheduled for 2027 at Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin.

LANGUAGE The reading will be held in Russian with German and English subtitles.
