Elle Sofe Sara, choreographer and director, grew up and lives in Guovdageaidnu, Sápmi / Finnmark. Her work deals with often overlooked aspects of Sámi physicality, with unspoken rituals that have escaped the grip of colonialism. In doing so, she discovers a space in which past and present meet.

Although her choreographies are known for their playful approach, she also deals with taboo subjects such as trauma, abuse and suicide. As an indigenous artist, Sara strives to create work that speaks strongly to both her community and the art world.
